TR80+ Composite Floor Decking

TR80+ Composite Floor Decking

TR80+ Composite Floor Decking

TR80+ is an 80mm deep trapezoidal composite floor deck developed to deliver long unpropped spans while maintaining efficient slab depths and reduced concrete volumes. Originally introduced in 2002, continued research and development has evolved the profile into the TR80+, now widely specified across low to medium rise buildings in the UK.

The deeper 80mm trapezoidal geometry enables excellent unpropped span capacity, reducing the number of secondary beams required and helping to optimise overall structural layouts. Fewer beams means fewer connections, less erection time, and a leaner overall structural scheme.

Fire Performance

Fire design in accordance with SCI PN005c-GB and BS 5950 Part 8. Minimum slab depths shown are for normal weight concrete (NWC) and lightweight concrete (LWC) with fabric mesh reinforcement. Contact RMD Profiles to confirm requirements for TAB-Deck fibre concrete applications.

Fire rating Min slab depth, NWC Min slab depth, LWC
1 hour 140mm 130mm
1.5 hours 150mm 140mm
2 hours 160mm 150mm
3 hours 175mm 160mm
4 hours 200mm 175mm

At 1.5-hour and 2-hour fire periods, increased mesh sizing or trough bars may be required depending on span and applied load. Contact our team or use the chat assistant to confirm reinforcement requirements for your specific project.

Finishes and Options

  • Galvanised Z275 — standard coating, suitable for most internal applications
  • High durability ZM310 — enhanced zinc-magnesium coating for more demanding environments
  • Plastisol PF — colour-coated option where soffit aesthetics are required
  • Crushed ends — improves fire compartmentation at beam ends and can remove the need for fire protection to the beam top flange
  • Low-carbon steel — available for projects with embodied carbon targets

Why Specify TR80+?

TR80+ is the preferred deep trapezoidal profile for design teams targeting a reduction in structural steel tonnage without compromising on fire performance or span capability. The deeper 80mm trough geometry enables longer spans between secondary beams, and fewer beams means fewer connections, less erection time, and a shorter overall programme.

The minimum 140mm slab depth for a 1-hour fire rating is achievable with normal weight concrete and either standard fabric mesh or the TAB-Deck fibre concrete alternative. Central trough stiffener positioning ensures consistent shear stud location without additional site checking, reducing installation time and minimising non-compliance risk.

Lower concrete volumes compared with re-entrant profiles at equivalent slab depths translate directly into reduced wet dead loads, lighter foundations, and lower concrete supply costs.
