RMD Profiles is proud to showcase a recently completed residential project featuring three Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) homes on Portsdown Hill, Hampshire. This initiative was driven by a desire to create dream homes optimised for modern living, with a focus on innovative construction techniques and materials.

Project Overview

Each home spans 1000m² and was designed with both luxury and practicality in mind. Two of the homes were built for the clients’ personal use, while the middle property was configured for rental opportunities through Airbnb, offering guests a unique stay in an area known for its natural beauty.

Construction Challenges and Solutions

The ICF Homes Portsdown Hill project presented several engineering challenges, primarily due to the complex geometry of the ICF walls. Our team needed to ensure that the metal decking system would integrate seamlessly, maintaining structural integrity and taking full advantage of ICF’s thermal, acoustic, and fire-resistant properties. By leveraging the metal decking’s inherent flexibility, we were able to adapt it to the unique angles and ensure a snug fit around the rebar, ensuring adequate load distribution on the concrete walls.

By coordinating the delivery and installation sequences with precision, our team made efficient use of resources, crucial for hoisting materials into the challenging build location.
